East 43rd Street

Today, I'm going to speak about an English book which I have read during those English classes.

This book was about private investigator that one day a strange woman ask him for help, because he had to take some jewelry from a bank. But this woman was not what inspector Marley thought, and he had to solve a very big case in which he is in jail, in the limousine of a very strange man. There are also murderers and rich men with a lot of problems.

I have enjoyed this book a lot, because when you start reading you can't stop, it is not boring.
I recommend this book because I think it is very funny and you also learn a lot of English.

Almendralejo

Today, I'm going to speak about my grandparent's town, it is a small town located in extremadura named Almendralejo.

Almendralejo is a city with 34000 habitants .The economy of the city is based on the industry. Almendralejo was famous in Spain because their football club was in first division for a few years and because they produce a very famous cava.

In the town there are a lot of interesting places to visit, like the town hall, that is the place where José de espronceda, a very important writer from the Spanish romanticism was born.

Carolina Coronado theatre is another place that you can visit, it was built in honor of the romantic writer(Carolina Coronado) who was born in Almendralejo.

Another interesting place is the International wine and olive palace who attracts many people during the year.

There are also many religious places to visit like Santa Clara's convent that is famous because they produce very famous candies elaborated by hand.

Purificación's church is also famous because it have very beautiful paintings, which are usually compared with the Vatican's ones.

In almendralejo there are a lot of festivities like San Marco's pilgrimage, that is celebrated the 25 of April. They go to San Marco's chapel that is located on the outskirts of the city and they celebrate the day, I like this day a lot.

Also the 15 of August they celebrate the day of the Patron saint of the city, Piedad.

They also celebrate a rallie on September in the outskirts of the city, i go there every year and I enjoy it a lot.

I like a lot Almendralejo, I like to go there because I can see my family and because I like to do things there.

What's in the jar?

Last week we did an activity for an English project named "what's in the jar?", we had been working on it for a long time ago.

First, we divided the class into different groups depending on what charity we were supporting (animals, people in need, dogs...etc). I was supporting dogs and me and my group search about some charities who helps them, finally we found a charity named RSCPA and we decided to support it because it was one of the most important charity who helps animals.

We thought about some activities we could do to raise money for the charity, one of them was a marathon in which you had to run with your dog, another one was a swimming race with the dog too. We prepared a presentation where we explained our charity and our idea to raise money.
When all the people present their activity we vote for the best one, and the winner idea was from the group who was supporting Caritas, their idea was a game in which you had to guess the number of candies that were in a jar.

After choosing the activity we started to organize it. We started dividing the tasks, some people was in charge of putting posters on the high school, other people was in charge of printing tickets, and all the class was in charge of supporting the activity on the social nets. We also write some formal letters to caritas and to the principal of the school, we write them in English and in Spanish.

On Friday the 10th we did the game, we did it on the playground and we collected a lot of money.
On Thursday the 16th we did it in the other part of the high school with the small children, we also collected a lot of money. At the end we gave the money to Caritas, they thanks it a lot, and we gave the price to the winner of the game (Paula Ruiz).

In my opinion it was a very good way to raise money for a charity and it is very important because in this time the charities need the money.

The first day without rain

Yesterday was the first day of the holly week without rain, and me and my family saw a lot of floats.

At 5:30 we were in Seville, we enter in the house were we had our balcony and we started to see a lot of floats. It wasn't raining and all the floats were in the streets. We saw all the floats.

We enjoyed a lot this day because a lot of people was with us in the balcony, we played some games and we didn't get bored.

At 00:30 we returned home, we took the underground, it was full of people, we had to wait for half an hour to enter in the train, at the end we arrive home at 1:30.

It's was a very good day and I hope that today is going to be also a very funny day, because if it doesn't rain we are going to see a lot of beautiful floats.

My ability

One of my abilities is playing music. I can play the guitar, the piano and also the percussion.

I started playing music when I was 4, at the music school of Tomares . When I was young I didn't practice so much, but now I practice 1 hour each instrument per week. I have been playing music for 11 years.

I think playing music is very useful, because when you are stressed if you play music you relax yourself. It's also very good when you feel that you can play a song that you like. The music have a lot of advantages.

When I play music, I feel very good because it is very comforting to play an instrument and the people who are watching you are enjoying your performance. You feel very happy.

That's why I like my ability, because I have enjoyed the music all my life.

New Year's Eve (Spanish tradition)

I want you to know how we celebrate christmas:
New Year's Eve is celebrated on 31 of October, people usually celebrate it at home, at work, in the streets...Spain has lots of different traditions, people drink, eat... In Spain, we dinner whith our family.

We eat the grapes watching the TV, in every channel, there are people presenting the 12 strokes of the midnight. The presenters are usually famous people, and it is a privilege for them to present it. The channel connect with "the door of the sun" in Madrid, and when the bells strike we have to eat a grape.

I think that Spanish traditions are very beautiful, everybody enjoy it a lot, but there are a lot of people that are alone during this days, or working to maintain their family.
